Politics is Pornography

Hi. This is Todd. I bought this site a year ago from a friend of mine, mostly because he needed the money. I wasn't sure exactly what to do with it until I saw the ad included in this Morning Joe segment:

And I realized: politics has become pornography. It has no relationship to reality. This ad attacks Joe Sestak for not joining most of the United States Congress in uncritical support for Israel.  The ad was created by The Emergency Committee for Israel, which founder William Krystol calls "the pro-Israel wing of the pro-Israel community."  

But most people in the United States, although firmly part of the pro-Israel community, are not part of any wing of it.  We feel for the people of Israel, but we do not think they are less guilty than the Palestinians.  Check out the results of this poll, done by Frank Luntz for The Israel Project after an Israeli raid killed nine people on a flotilla of boats breaking Israel's blockade of Gaze:

1. 56% of Americans agree with the claim that there is a humanitarian crisis in Gaza;
2. 43% of Americans agree with the claim that people in Gaza are starving;
3. 34% of Americans support the Israeli operation against the Flotilla;
4. 20% of Americans “felt support” for Israel following announcement of easing of Gaza closure.

Although on 34% of Americans support the raid, 71% of the United States Congress signed an AIPAC letter supporting it.  Think about that.  The United States Congress is more than twice as supportive of Israel's actions as its people are.

This ad has no more relationship to our real political situation than porn has to actual sex.  It attacks a member of Congress for being more in step with the American people than his colleagues.  Exactly how is that supposed to work?

Anyway, since our pundits and politicians have become nothing more than purveyers of porn, I thought I'd suggest some actual porn titles that they might enjoy. 

My first recommendation is for William Kristol and the other founders of the Emergency Committee for Israel.  It's from gay Zionist Michael Lucas and it's called Pissed On.  You'll need to log in in order to see the cover and read a description, but it's the latest in Lucas' watersports series.  Since these guys think Israel has the right to piss all over the rest of the world, I think they might get off on watching Lucas do it for real.
