Why is Valerie Jarrett calling sexual orientation a "lifestyle choice?"
There are two things worth noticing about this interview that Jonathan Capehart did with Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett. The section on gay rights begins at 3:30. Jarrett calls being gay "a lifestyle choice"-- in a supportive context-- at 4:34.
1. Valerie Jarrett believes that being gay is a lifestyle choice. And she has not bothered to learn that refering to being gay as a "lifestyle choice" is language that is offensive to many gay people. This is the gay-supportive one, the one who went to talk to HRC. And she hasn't bothered to learn how to talks respectfully about gay people.
2. Jonathan Capehart is the most worthless gay reporter in the world. Not only does he fail to ask Jarrett any mildly challenging questions regarding the administration's failure to do anything to substantively address equality for gay people, he allows her use of the phrase "lifestyle choice" to go completely unchallenged.
I hate these people.
