Dan Savage: Antigay bully

It's very nice that Dan Savage has decided to encourage gay kids not to kill themselves in response to homophobic bullying. But I wish he would also discourage anti-gay bullying by not using hateful, anti-gay language himself. This is part of the tribute he sent to Andrew Sullivan's celebration of himself today:

Being a friend Andrew's pre-Dish meant having to explain to people at dinner parties—mostly buttsore homos who hadn't ever read him—that while, yes, Andrew was ferociously argumentative, and sometimes wrong (who isn't sometimes?), he was also a wonderful, charming, hilarious, mellow, and generous person. A wonderful, charming, etc., person who just so happened to be doing more to advance the cause of gay civil equality than anyone else in the country.

Buttsore homos?

Does Dan actually not realize that he is doing exactly what is driving gay kids to kill themselves?  Attacking gay people for being more sensitive than he is.  

Now, Dan is trying to be kinder and gentler is some ways.  His last podcast reverses his last position on fat in a relationship.  This man has stated repeatedly in the past that he would drop his boyfriend Terry if he got fat.  Today he says that a woman should divorce her husband because he took a picture of her to show how fat she is.

No wonder Dan is such a fan of Andrew Sullivan.  They both have no probem self-righteously shredding others for doing exacting what they have done in the past.
